When not working on my projects, I’m interested in fitness, entrepreneurship, modern day chivalry, culture, spirituality, survival skills, travel, improving my body physically and mentally and building great relationships.
Malena Thompson Alford
With over 24 years work experience Marlena has extensive knowledge in Finance, Budgeting, Marketing, Operations, Grants, Property Management and Real Estate.
Marlena was raised in Saratoga Springs, NY. After High School, she obtained her Batchelor’s Degree in Finance from North Carolina Central University and moved to New York City where she started her career with NYC Dept of Parks & Recreation. After receiving a NYC Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Award, she attended New York University-Polytechnic Institute and obtained her Master’s Degree in Operations Management. Years later, leaving the Parks Dept as Director of Fiscal Mgmt., she relocated back to Upstate NY but continued working in Government at NYS Div. of the Budget, NYS Div. of Criminal Justice Services and the State Comptroller’s Office, where she held several positions including Director of Finance and Asst Dir of
Marlena’s desire for real estate started when she was only 11 years old. She was collecting rent and writing rent receipts for her father, who had owned rental properties in Saratoga. Following in his steps, she purchased her first two rental properties, eventually maintaining and managing a total 4 properties, 8 rental units in Albany and Saratoga for over 15 years. She also has experience in new construction, after building her own home in 2007. After retiring, Marlena obtained her NYS Real Estate license and is currently working with one of Saratoga’s best, Home USA Real Estate Services, where Anthony Vaccarielli is the Broker/Builder.
